EDUAdvocates was created to help professionals and advocates effectively build support for public funding of education. The association’s mission is to be an information clearing house for the best practices in integrating effective grassroots advocacy, government relations, and public affairs strategies.
The association was launched because an increasing number education institutions and supporting non-profits have begun to develop networks of advocates to carry their message to state legislatures and the federal government. This association is a community for the growing number of professionals and advocates whose work is not addressed by the existing professional associations like CASE and government relations professionals.
Why Grassroots Advocacy?
Increased competition for limited state resources requires a diversified approach to educate and engage decision-makers at the state and national level. Any effective strategy requires that all three components of your legislative strategy - direct lobbying, media relations, and grassroots advocacy - be coordinated and integrated together.
Grassroots advocacy can effectively engage internal and external audiences to demonstrate public support for education funding. Constituents can provide a powerful voice in educating decision-makers about the value that your institutions provide. Moreover, their personal stories put a human face on your institution that can often get lost in direct lobbying efforts by government relations staff.
